LOOKING OUT FOR IMMIGRATION REFORM 2011

With immigration reforms being implemented every few years or so, the question on the tip of everybody's tongue is what big immigration reform ideas will be seen? It can be difficult to guess what the politicians will be pulling out of their hats but speculations are rife.

Immigration News 2011

Immigration reforms are political in nature and are usually passed by way of public voting especially in democratic countries. It is difficult to predict the issues that will be voted on despite the fact that there already a lot of speculations coming out about immigration reform 2011.

A lot of the issues however, seem to be centering around the rights of immigrants to live and work in the US. The Visa is an immigrant's ticket to residency in the US but there are residents and politicians who believe that the Visa needs to be altered a bit. Because immigration affects a country economically, socially and demographically, there are plenty of ideas floating around as to what changes need to be implemented and how fast they need to be implemented.

Take for example, the recent news about illegal aliens in the US: America has a 9% unemployment rate (and trending higher), but instead of hiring US citizens, illegals are rewarded with paychecks for all sorts of jobs that could otherwise be going to Americans who are unemployed.

This recent bit of news is an example that can be considered a trigger for politicians to implement changes particularly in the immigration policies concerning an immigrant's right to work in the US.

Quota

Comprehensive immigration news also suggests that the immigration standard quotas be altered. As an example, there is a certain quota that is being followed with regards to the number of immigrants being issued a Green Card.

However, the idea of putting quotas may not have been explored fully. Many countries don't have quotas as part of their immigration laws since many see quotas as limiting the entry of immigrants, as a form of discrimination if you will. A good side of it however, is that it prevents surges and sudden population growths and keeps everything under control. Since immigration creates a sudden increase in population which can cause among other things water shortage, increasing pollution and resource depletion, setting quotas is not seen as harsh but necessary.

Keeping the Masses Happy

On top of any political agenda concerning immigration reform 2011 is keeping the people happy. Politicians will often do anything and everything to make sure that any ideas they present in connection with immigration reforms are well met and accepted by the public who will be voting for or against it since any changes in the immigration reform that goes against the public voice is seen as going against democratic belief. Public opinion is sometimes the catalyst for for the development of proposals, it drives negotiations, facilitates compromise and ultimately brings resolution.

That being said, keeping the public happy is a task politicians consider the hardest part of their jobs but one that they do willingly and happily because a happy public means good leadership and good leadership means the politicians are doing their jobs right.
